Drawing Still Life for Adults

Wednesday, July 20th | 5:00-7:00 PM | Cost: $40

In this two-hour workshop, students will use a still life arrangement as an avenue to study composition, design, and proportions with graphite pencils. This drawing demo/workshop will help students understand how to draw from life, the medium used, and to practice different drawing techniques. The still life will be set up indoors, in Natur-Tyme’s Community Room, and the materials will be provided by the instructor.

The Painter’s Color Wheel for Adults

Wednesday, July 27th | 5:00-7:00 PM | Cost: $50

In this two-hour workshop, students will create the painter’s color wheel as an avenue to study hue, value, and intensity with acrylic paint, and ask questions. This painting demo/workshop will help students understand color families and their relationships, the medium used, and to practice different painting techniques. The Painter’s Color Wheel will be set up indoors, at Natur-Tyme’s Community Room, and the materials will be provided by the instructor.

ABOUT MARIA RIZZO

Maria Rizzo’s paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the northeast of the United States and abroad, including the Wilson Art Gallery and ArtRage Gallery in Syracuse, NY; the RSI Bank's 3rd Annual Artists Contest in Rahway, N.J.; and the Museo d' Arte Contemporanea di Lissone in Italy. Rizzo is also the recipient of several awards and honors, in addition to the 2014 Individual Artist Commission Grant from CNY Arts, she is the recipient of an Honorable Mention from the RSI Bank's 3rd Annual Artists Contest in Rahway, N.J., she is the Artist-in-Residence at Natur-Tyme, she is the former Artist-in-Residence and Curator at The Tech Garden in Syracuse, New York and she is a 2012 NYFA Mark Alumna. Maria Rizzo was born in Bologna, Italy in 1987.

Spring is finally here.

The days are warmer and the seasonal allergies are CRAZY annoying - thank goodness for antihistamine, right!?

Altogether, spring is an inspirational season, and creativity has been hanging out in my studio quite a bit!

I'm very excited to introduce you to 10 new oil paintings that share 3 qualities:

  1. they are modern,
  2. they are graceful,
  3. and they are airy.

Each artwork was painted with Williamsburg hand crafted oils on the finest-quality pure-cotton canvas. They are ready to hang and become a focal point in your home.  You can click to each image to go to my online store.

HOW IS MY ARTWORK GOING TO BE SHIPPED?

All artwork is wrapped in paper, padded extremely well, and sent in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box. Most artwork will ship via USPS or UPS and most packages arrive within 2-4 days (domestic) from time of shipping (includes tracking & insurance). 

$15.00 shipping costs cover fees, packaging supplies, time, labor, and storage.  

CAN I PICK UP MY ARTWORK?  

Absolutely!  You are welcome and encouraged to pick-up your artwork in person at Natur-Tyme in DeWitt, NY.  To forgo shipping fees altogether, write me an email at mariarizzoart@gmail.com with the desired artwork you want to purchase. Then I will send you an invoice and we will work out a time to meet.

Expressive Nature

I'm excited to introduce you to this new series of acrylic and oil paintings on canvas that celebrate a love for nature and trees. These recent artworks were created with a colorful, expressive, and whimsical signature style and they were designed to capture the emotional aspect of looking at nature.

These paintings can be viewed at Natur-Tyme until June 26, 2016, along with new open edition prints (starting at $25) and magnets ($6 and $8 each).

Natur-Tyme is much more than your average health food store, carrying more than 10,000 grocery products (including over 1,000 gluten-free products), over 220 brands of supplements, a wide array of health and beauty products, high-quality pet food and pet supplements, and now providing an art gallery in their Community Corner to promote the talents of local professional artists as well as to bring cultural enhancement to the local community frequenting the store.

I have been selected as Natur-Tyme’s Artist-In-Residence and my goal is to create a thriving local art section in the store. I will be educating the community about the importance of the fine arts through talks and workshops. My responsibilities are:

  1. to help the local community find high-quality works of art with different price ranges,
  2. to expose the community to our local artists and their art services,
  3. to recruit excellent artworks and wares by professionals and trusted local artists and crafters.

I will showcase my original paintings, fine art prints and much more at the store for the entire time I fulfill the role of Artist-in-Residence at Natur-Tyme.


Along with my art, the store will showcase and promote the work of other artists over three-month periods. From July 1 to September 25, 2015 Natur-Tyme is proud to exhibit my acrylic paintings, the mixed media paintings by Karen Tashkovski, and the sculptures of Tom Huff.
